20/21 Weeks

This picture was taken last week at 20 weeks, but I went to doctor today. (I think I need a different spot to take my pictures, I look bigger because of the shadow!)

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 21 Weeks

Size of baby: About the length of a carrot (10.5 in, 12.5 oz)

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 3 pounds

Maternity Clothes: Just this week started wearing maternity pants--so comfy!

Gender: ??

Movement: Been feeling little nudges every now and then

Sleep: I'm sleeping pretty good, but waking up once or twice a night to go to the bathroom

What I miss: Nothing really

Cravings: Fruit (honey crisp apples, grapes, clementines) and cheese. Still loving Sour Patch Kids and Twizzlers!

Symptoms: HEARTBURN, going to the bathroom a million times a day, having horrible allergies this week

Best Moment this week: Feeling the baby move more, hearing heartbeat today (152), and finding out she will induce at 39 weeks again which means if all goes according to plan this baby's birthday will be June 30, 2011!! :)

Poor, Sick Mason

While we were in Ennis, Mason started getting sick. On Friday, he spent the day with Matthew, Aunt CC and Granna while I was at the hospital. Matthew called and said he was acting fine, but that he was starting to get a bad cough and we should watch it. By the time I got back to Ennis on Friday night, Mason was already asleep, so we just had to wait to see how he was the next morning. We woke him up at 10am on Saturday! He has never slept that long, and we knew something was wrong because he wasn't happy to see us like he normally is. He drank some juice but after he finished it, he just climbed in my lap saying "mommy i hurt". I had no idea what was hurting him though. We went ahead and all went out to eat for lunch because the roofers were repairing Donna's roof and it was LOUD. Mason acted okay, but didnt eat and sounded like a 70 year old smoker when he coughed. We got back to Donna's and he fell right to sleep, so Matthew and I left for Dallas to go see baby Sophia. We found out that 30 minutes after we left, Mason woke up screaming and Donna held him the whole time we were gone. When we got back around 6, Mason had just sat down to eat a baked potato and literally 2 minutes after we walked in he threw up all over his food! We threw the food out, but he didn't want us to make him another one. He spend the rest of the evening in one of our laps (usually daddy's) and we put him to bed.

Sunday was worse. He had a fever, cough, runny nose, no appetite and literally laid in someone's lap ALL day long. He would go in and out of sleep and when he was awake he would just cry. It was so sad, I think Donna and I were both about to start crying!

Of all the times for Mason to get sick like this, Matthew was going to be working out of town all week. The plan was for me to drive Mason and I back home on Sunday, but he was so miserable, I didn't want to get on the road. Monday morning, Mason woke up crying and cried while I loaded the car and cried for me to hold him for about the first 30 minutes of our trip. I was crying right along with him, I felt so bad that I couldn't hold him, but I wanted to get us home and to the doctor. He calmed down and watched movies the rest of the way home. We got into the doctor and found out he had RSV and an ear infection. We got some medicine and off we went.

The last few days have been a blur. On Tuesday morning, he was playing a little and acting better, so I thought we were on the mend. By 4:00 he was crying again and saying "mommy hurt" again. Mason is not a crier, so hearing him cry like this tells me he must feel awful! He laid in my lap until around 8:00 when I got him to bed. His fever has been spiking at night (the highest 103.8) and he still hasn't eaten anything. There is nothing worse than seeing your baby sick and knowing there is nothing you can do. I'm glad that I have gotten all of this extra snuggle time, but I am ready for my energetic 2 year old to come back! We are both exhausted and ready for Daddy to come home on Friday!

Miss Sophia Grace

I was so excited that I was able to be at the hospital the day Lezlee had her baby! She and Joel have been waiting for this baby for a long time, and I am so glad that everything went so well. Matthew, Mason and I drove to Ennis on Thursday and then I went to Carrollton with Lezlee's parents to spend the night and Lez's house. They went into the hospital to be induced that night. Friday morning we weren't in a big hurry to get to hospital because we just all knew we would be waiting around all day for baby H to arrive. We were so wrong! We got to the hospital at 10 and Lez was already 6 cm and had gotten her epidural! We talked with her in her room for a while (she was feeling great with the epidural in!) and then the nurse came in to check her around 10:45. The nurse asked what we thought Lez would be and Lez said an 8 and I was just joking saying 10. Well, sure enough she was 10 cm. We gave her hugs and went into the waiting room to wait...and wait...and wait! Finally around noon, I text Joel to see if the baby was here yet because we were all anxious to see if the baby was okay (not to mention to know if it was a boy or girl). He text back saying baby was great, arrived at 11:23am and that they would let us know the gender in a little while. Lez was trying to feed and they were enjoying their quiet time together as a family of 3. I think it was a little after 1:oo and the nurse came to get us. We walked into the room and Lez was holding the baby, but all I could see was a baby wrapped in the gender neutral hospital blanket and hat. Lez told us to look closer and sure enough the baby had on a BOW! Lez and Joel just knew it would be a boy, so were so surprised it was a girl. Sophia Grace Hernandez is her name and she is the cutest little girl! She weighed 7lb 40z and was 18.7 inches long.

I stayed at the hospital all day and then rode back with Lezlee's sister- in-law to Ennis. On Saturday, Matthew and I went up to hospital to see her again. We thought Mason was getting sick, so we left him at home with Donna. Thank goodness we did, because he has been a very sick little boy. (more on that later)

I can't even put into words how happy I am for my best friend and her husband. I remember so well the days back in college where we would watch "A Wedding Story" and "Baby Story" and dream of what those days would be like for us. We got to experience the "wedding" part a month apart and she watched me become a Mom in 2008 and loved Mason from the very beginning. She was meant to be a mom and I am so glad that God blessed them with a healthy baby girl. They will be the best parents and I am looking forward to watching our kids grow up together. These pictures are all from the first day at the hospital. I forgot my camera on Saturday and she already looked so different! We will get to see them again next weekend while we are in Dallas for a wedding and I can't wait! I love her so much already!

Super Bowl 2011

The Buteau's invited us over for a little Super Bowl get together this year. We had jambalaya, buffalo chicken dip, salad, bread, chicken fingers, wings and cookie cake. The kids made a mess of their house but had a good time playing. As usual, the guys were out at Ronnie's Place (the garage in the back of their house) while the moms were in the house with the kids. :)

What's neat about this group of friends is that when we met we each only had one child. They now range in age from 19 months to almost 3 years. Now we are all expanding our families at the same time too. The Buteau's had the twins 5 months ago, the Dicharry's had Amelie 6 weeks ago, and Leigh, Lindsey, and I are all due with our 2nd babies this summer. Crazy to think that there will be 11 kiddos between us by the end of the summer!

We were rooting for the Packers since Graham Harrell is on the team.

Snow Day

All week everyone back home in Texas was snowed and iced in and we didn't get anything but cold weather. On Friday we finally woke up to snow! It wasn't very much, but it was enough to go out in for a little while. We were sad because Matthew was stuck in Dallas (it took him 7 hours to drive home when it should have taken 3) so he didn't get to play with us. I really thought that I would bundle Mason up and he would last all of 5 seconds, but he really liked it. The snow wasn't packing well enough to make snowballs or make a snowman but he just liked to run around in it. I am hoping maybe we will have one more snow day this year and that Matthew can be here to enjoy it with us!

Abilene

We went to Abilene last weekend to see Mimi and Papa. We left on Thursday afternoon and luckily only had to stop once in Fort Worth and then got to their house around 9 that night. Mason did pretty good in the car considering he didn't sleep a wink. I am so glad he is getting to the age that he will watch movies. He watched Despicable Me, Toy Story 3 and Finding Nemo.

We were glad that the weather was so nice that weekend, especially since the big snow/ice storm came the day after we left! Mason spent most of the weekend outside in the backyard, swinging and playing with Izzie.

Friday we took him bowling for the first time. He took a little while to warm up to the idea, but after a little while he loved rolling the ball down the lane and would jump up and down every time one of us knocked a pin down. He really loved the loud music too. He was dancing away! He also enjoyed playing some arcade games and cashing in his tickets for some prizes.

Friday night Matthew and I snuck away to go see a movie. We love going to the movies, and it had been so long since we had been able to go. We also had to eat at a couple of our favorite places: Rosa's and Fuji's.

Sunday morning we left to head to Weatherford to meet Brian, Kim and the kids for lunch at Logan's. It was good to get to see them. After lunch, my parents went back to Abilene and we started heading back to Shreveport. Mason of course didn't sleep at all, but watched more movies. He actually fell asleep as we were pulling into our driveway! Go figure! It was a fun, relaxing weekend!
