Interview with Mason

I saw this on another blog and thought it was cute.  I asked these questions to Mason and these are his answers.  I just wrote exactly what he said without any prompting from me.  I will have to ask him again in a few months and see what he says! :)

1.  What is your name?  Mason Gomery

2.  How old are you?  2

3.  What is your favorite color?  Orange (who would have guessed that?!)

4.  Who is your best friend?  Bennett, Mimi and Papa, Izzie and Sophia  (Izzie is my parents dog!)

5.  What do you want to be when you grow up?  I don't know

6.  What is your favorite movie?  Despicable Me  (pronounced "Spica Me")

7.  What is your favorite book?  Pete the Cat.com  (the .com part cracks me up!  He loves the book Pete the Cat and we listen to the song that goes with it online, so that is why he thinks the title is .com!)

8.  What makes you happy?  Birthdays

9.  What makes you sad?  No answer, He just pretended to cry (at least he knows what sad means!)

10.  What is your favorite food?  Peaches, green beans, ketchup, water with ice

11.  What is your favorite animal?  Zebra and ice cream  (love that he had to get ice cream in here somewhere!)

12.  What is your favorite song?  ABC's song

13.  What is your favorite game to play?  Toy Story  (I think he was talking about the Toy Story matching game on my phone)

Weekend with Granna

Granna came to visit this weekend.  Friday night, Matthew and I had a date night while she stayed with the kids.  We had a great dinner at Bella Fresca.

Saturday we went for a late breakfast at Another Broken Egg.  Mason loved his pancakes and ate all three of them!  Then we went to Barnes and Noble to look for some new books for Mason.  He has memorized all of his books and really needed some that aren't board books.  We were glad to have Granna the Librarian with us and she found three new books for him.  He loves them and wants to read them over and over again.

Yummy Mimosas (you can see Evie's hand poking out!)

So happy about his new books

Sunday we took Evie to church for the first time.  I knew she would do okay during the FaithLink service so I just wore her in my sling (I don't want to put her in the nursery until she has had her shots).  She slept for most of it, but by 11:45 she started crying because she was hungry.  I went out into the lobby to feed her and then we made it back for the last song.  We then went to lunch at Monjuni's with the Hogue's and then Donna rode back with them to Ennis.  It was a fun weekend!

All ready for church

Evie is 1 month old!

I should remember how fast times goes considering that Mason is about to be 3, but I still can't believe that Miss Evie is already one month old!  It is hard to remember what our lives were like without her in it.  She fits into our family perfectly!  :)

We didn't go to doctor this week, but we did at 3 weeks and her stats were:

Weight: 7 pounds 2 ounces
Length: 21 inches

Some things about our ONE month old:

  • Size NB diaper
  • NB clothes are still a little big, but are starting to fit better
  • Your eyes are still a dark blue, we are thinking they might turn green or hazel like mine
  • You sleep most of the day and love to look around and watch your big brother when you are awake
  • You are having tummy issues.  Not sure if it is something I am eating that you are getting in the breast milk or not, but you are a little grunter when you try to pass gas!
  • You are eating 3 oz every 3 hours during the day.  At night, you will usually go around 4 or 4.5 hours.  You still won't latch on, so I am pumping and feeding you a bottle.
  • You are spoiled rotten!  You LOVE to be held and will usually cry if you get put down.  Right now, you prefer your mommy- I can always get you to fall asleep in my arms!  We need to break you of this!  :)
  • You also will only sleep in the Nap Nanny- another thing we need to break you from.  You still sleep in our room and I'm not sure when we will put you upstairs in your room.  We put Mason in his crib at 4 weeks, but right now it doesn't sound fun to go up and down the stairs 3 or 4 times a night!  Hoping you sleep longer stretches soon and then we will move you upstairs.
  • You love the swing and the sling that I carry you in.  You are SO easy to take places.  You just sleep the whole time or look around.

Everywhere we go people comment on how much Evie looks like Mason.  Here is some comparison:
At one month Mason weighed 9 pounds and was 22 inches, so Evie is much smaller than he was!  We do think they look so much alike though!

We love you, Evie Girl, and can't wait to see how you grow!

    Boys trip to Dallas

Matthew had to work in Dallas this week, so Lezlee was nice enough to offer to keep Mason. The boys left Monday morning and are coming back today. I know Mason had so much fun with his Aunt Wezee and she did great at handling 2 kids! Matthew stayed at their house after work each day, so he was able to help with dinner, bath and bed time.

It was nice to have time with just Evie, but I sure missed my boys. It was just too quiet in the house!  It was also tough to do all the night time feedings by myself.  It really makes me appreciate all that Matthew does to help!

Thanks Lezlee for taking such good care of Mason! You are the best!!

He loved sleeping in his new PeaPod!

    Swimming with Sophia

    Wezee is the best teacher!

She took Mason and Sophia to the Carrollton pool on Tuesday.  Mason had a blast!

Funny story:  Tuesday night Lezlee, Joel, Matthew and Mason were all sitting at the table eating dinner when Mason reminded them that they needed to pray.  Matthew starts praying saying "Dear God thank you for this food, thank you for Lezlee taking us swimming, thank you for Evie and Sophia, etc. and then said Amen."  Mason then in all seriousness says, "Thank you for McDonalds.  Amen!"  LOL!  He had McD's for lunch that day, so I guess it was fresh on his mind!  Gotta love the innocence of that little guy!  :)

    Weekend Fun

We had a fun laid back weekend.  The Raines' neighbor has been out of town and let them use their pool, so Matthew took Mason swimming with them both Friday and Saturday. Mason loves the water, so I'm glad he is getting to swim so much.  I wish it wasn't so hot so that I could have gone with Evie.
Saturday morning we had Drew's 2nd birthday party at Gymboree.  It has been awhile since we have been there, so Mason had a lot of fun.  It was Evie's first party to attend too!  Sunday, Matthew and Mason spent the morning outside washing the cars.  Matthew said Mason washed the car for about 2 minutes and then just danced and played the rest of the time!  Sunday night the Buteau's had people over so the kids could enjoy the water slide.  We loved being able to talk with our friends and just let the kids run around and play.  Every time we leave something like that, Matthew and I always get sad because we will miss our friends so much when we move.  I'm glad we can enjoy the time we have left here though!

Mason is always right where Evie is.

Mason's arm got stuck in the chair.  I thought it was funny so I  grabbed my camera!

    Happy Birthday Drew!

Lindsey practicing for when Henry gets here.  Only about 3 more weeks!!

These kids love the bubbles and parachute

Ready to go swim with Drew and Bennett.  Notice his orange swimsuit!!

Mason loves to go run and hide whenever it is time to get dressed.  I love his tan line!  :)

Eating hot dogs at the Buteau's.  Drew, Georgia, Mason, Bennett, and Caroline

Jake and Evie.  Evie was born 3 days before Jake, but he is so much bigger than her!

    Worn out from the partying

    Mason loves this slide!
The night was chaotic and fun.  6 couples and 12 kids (and 2 on the way) always makes for a good time!  :)
Georgia got kicked in the face and got a bloody nose and Mason almost fell head first off the top of the slide.  Thankfully Erinn was nearby and grabbed Mason by the foot to catch him from falling and she even had a baby in one hand!  It was pretty funny after we realized he was okay!

    Story time

I took both kids out by myself for the first time today. We met Lindsey and Bennett at the library for story time and then went to Chick-fil-a. Mason was so excited to play with Bennett. I know he has missed seeing his friends these last 3 weeks. (so have I!). Evie did great. I carried her in the sling and she slept most of the time. I'm so glad we are getting out of the house again! We've got another fun play date in store for tomorrow!

    Cousins!

We had a fun weekend while Mimi, Uncle Brian, Aunt Kim, Brianne and Brayden were here. I love that Mason has cousins so close in age.  He had so much fun playing with them!  It will be nice when we move back to Fort Worth to be close to them again.
