Evie at 2 months

• Still in NB clothes and some 0-3 month
• Started smiling and cooing!  We love seeing her sweet smile.
• She has been sleeping in her crib since about 5 weeks old.  The first night was rough, but she has been doing great since then.  Speaking of sleeping, she has been sleeping through the night for about two weeks now.  I figured out that she does want to be swaddled (I thought she didn't like it at first, so we had stopped) We put her in the Summer Swaddler, lay her in her crib and she puts herself to sleep.  She has been sleeping from about 9:00pm to anywhere between 6-8am. There were a couple of nights last week she woke up around 4 or 5am, ate a bottle and then went back to sleep for a few hours, but now she seems to be able to stretch that out a little later in the mornings.

• Her napping is still sporadic.  She always sleeps when we are out running errands, she loves to nap while being held, and she will take pretty good naps in the nap nanny at home.  I'm hoping by next month we are on a better nap schedule, but right now I am just happy with sleeping at night!
• She has been on formula for about a month now.  We started with the regular Enfamil, but it was bothering her tummy so we are now on the Gentle Ease.  She is still gassy, but seems to be taking the formula fine.  She eats 4oz (sometimes 5) every 3-4 hours during the day.
• She does pretty well at tummy time.  She likes to lay on her play mat, sit in her nap nanny and watch Mason, and sometimes likes the swing.  She still prefers to be held.
• She already has a lot of nicknames:  Peanut, Sweet girl, Baby girl, Evie girl, Sister, Sissy

We had her 2 month well visit today.  I have been concerned with her breathing pretty much since she was born.  It sounds like she is wheezing and struggling to breathe, especially when she is laying flat on her back and eating her bottle.  The doctor thinks she has laryngomalacia.  She says it is pretty common but she is sending us to an ENT to make sure that is all it is.  The earliest we could get in is September 8 so we just have to wait until then.  The ENT will have to do the test where he inserts a tube through her nostril to see her vocal cords. Our doctor did say that it is a struggle for her to eat because it makes it hard for her to breathe, but the fact that she is still eating is a good sign.  Now I know why sometimes it takes her awhile to have a bottle.  Hopefully the ENT will confirm that this is all it is and we just wait for her to grow out of it!
She also got her vaccines today.  She was NOT happy about her shots!  Other than the breathing, she checked out great and we go back at 4 months.

25 minutes

I had the scariest 25 minutes of my life today. Matthew is in Dallas and the kids and I were out this morning and got home around noon and I hit the garage closed as we walked in. We were all upstairs in Evie's room. Mason was in there and then walked out while I was changing her clothes. It was 12:39 (I know because I had just sent a text and that was the last time I saw Mason). I start calling Mason's name and he didn't come. I figured he was hiding so I looked all upstairs, then went downstairs to his normal hiding spots and I couldn't find him. All the doors were locked so I knew he wasn't outside. I went to look in garage and the garage door hadn't closed earlier, so I look in the yard and still no Mason. This is when I start to panic a little. I call Matthew and he stays on the phone with me while I keep calling his name. I looked in every bathroom, closet, room 2 or 3 times and still it was quiet. Matthew told me to call 911 so I did. It was 12:57 when I called them. The dispatcher starts asking me questions like, when was the last time I saw him, what was he wearing, what color hair, etc. That really freaked me out because I was picturing an Amber Alert like you see on the news with all the info like that. The woman was very nice and sent an officer to our house. I got off the phone with her and called Matthew again. I went to the upstairs bathroom and looked again and sure enough there was my baby! He was hiding in between the shower curtain and the plastic curtain. Each time I had looked in there, I had just pulled both curtains and saw the empty tub. I have no idea how he stayed so still and quiet for that long. It was 1:04 when I called 911 back to tell them I found Mason.
Mason had no idea why I was so upset. He was wiping my tears and asking why I was crying. I still can't believe he hid for that long! When we play hide and seek, the longest he has ever stayed hidden was maybe a minute or so. While I was looking for him I was even saying I would give him ice cream, cookies and candy if he would come out. And he still didn't come out! That is so not like him! I think knowing that the garage was open scared me more than anything. If it had been closed, there would have been no way he could have been outside and I would have known for sure he was inside somewhere.
Needless to say I am exhausted! It felt like he was missing for an hour. My head was spinning with all of the bad things that could have happened to him. I had a little talk with him so I hope he NEVER pulls something like that again!

Learning fun

Since we are staying home today in pj's working on Potty Training, I figured I would find some fun things for us to do.  I found all these printables online and Mason really enjoyed doing them.  I don't know how his teachers keep him involved in something for more than a minute though!  He would do what I ask and then be ready for the next thing!

I'm excited for him to start K3 in a couple of weeks.  He really loves to learn and do new things.  I am also ready for us to get into a routine again.  We are working hard on potty training this weekend while Matthew is gone so I hope to have a good report on that by next week!

Sip and See

Lezlee and JoAnn outdid themselves and hosted a Sip and See for Evie.  It was fun to be able to show her off to family and friends that hadn't met her yet.  I thought it was so nice of Lez and her mom to do this for me!

I couldn't wait to get this picture.  I can't believe we both have daughters, it seems like yesterday we were in college watching A Baby Story!

Matthew's grandmother, Nannie, also drove in from  Graham to meet Evie.  Mason and Evie are the only great grandchildren on Matthew's side of the family.  Papa Joe also got to meet her but I didn't get a picture of them this time.

Future Tech roommates in 2029?!  I hope they grow up to be best friends just like their mommas.  :)

Marcy, Donna's friend, is who gave Mason his lovey right after he was born.  She had no idea that Lovey would be such an important thing in his life!  She got Evie her own lovey too.  I think we are going to call it Lamby and see if it sticks!  Lamby is as big is she is right now.  Thanks, Marcy for such a sweet gift!

Birthdays

We had a fun and busy weekend in Ennis.  Friday, Evie and I drove there to meet up with Matthew and Mason.  That night we went to PF Changs to celebrate Matthew's birthday early since he will be helping Donna move on the actual day.  We had a nice dinner and enjoyed some family time.

Crazy to think we are both 30 this year and when we started dating we were only 20!  It's been a great decade! :)

Funny story:  Right after Mason helped Matthew blow out the candle he just started crying saying "orange cake!  where is my orange cake?!"  We have been talking to Mason about his bday next month and he has been saying he wants an orange party, orange cake, and orange candles.  It's like it just hit him that he blew out a candle for a birthday, but it wasn't orange.  He was so upset with me thinking I hadn't given him what he asked for!  He just didn't understand that his birthday is still a month away.  He finally calmed down and ate the cake though!  I guess I better make sure he has an orange cake at his party!

After the shower we went home to get ready for GG's (John's great-grandmother) 100th birthday party.  GG loves to dance, so she had a  true Czech polka party.  I don't know of any other 100 year old woman that would not only have a party, but also DANCE at her party.  GG was on the dance floor several times polka dancing.
Of course our little dance machine loved every minute of it!  He was a little hesitant at first, but once we got him on the dance floor we could not get him off.  He seriously danced from 7-11:00 non stop!  We kept saying if he could dance to polka music, what in the world would he do at a wedding with a DJ?!

Another funny story:  We told Mason that we were going to a party where he could dance to music. Anyone that knows him knows that he loves Top 40 music and can hear the first beat to a song and tell you who sings it.  So he woke up from nap and asked if he would be able to dance to Britney (Britney Spears) at the party.  We told him no it wasn't that kind of music.  Well I have NO idea why, but he saw Lauren and immediately yelled "BRITNEY!"  Now, he has never seen any picture or video of Britney Spears, the only image he has seen of her would be her album covers on Pandora or Itunes.  So maybe it was just the long blonde hair, but he was STAR STRUCK!  He seriously thought she was Britney and wanted nothing to do with Granna, Aunt CC or me, and only wanted to be with her.  What's even funnier is that Lauren is a huge fan of Britney Spears and always has been, so she really took it as a compliment!  Mason was so shy around her at first and would just follow her around and then she danced with him most of the night.  At one point she told him she needed to take a break and went and dance with someone else, and you could just see the disappointment all over his face.  He was heartbroken!  When we finally left and were in the car, he looked at me and said "I danced with Britney, mommy!"  and was so excited.  He even woke up talking about how he met Britney!
