2012 Year in Review

JANUARY

We missed Daddy while he had to work out of town every week.  I learned I can do a lot by myself, and grew even more thankful of the times Matthew was home to help.

FEBRUARY

Mason had his first season of soccer with a team full of friends.

MARCH

Caroline got engaged and asked me to be a bridesmaid.  We had a fun girls weekend wedding dress shopping, eating, enjoying the spa and a movie.

APRIL

Biggest news this month was that Matthew accepted a job at Vantage in Denver.  We spent the weekend with my family at Great Wolf Lodge.  We also got to take Mason to his first Rangers game.

MAY

Spent my first Mother's Day as a mom of two.  Our friends threw us a goodbye party in Shreveport.  The kids and I spent a week in Fort Worth seeing Lez and Sophia, my brother and family, Papa, and celebrated mine and Caroline's birthday.  We also got a contract on our house on my birthday.  We spent our last days with our best friends in Louisiana.

JUNE

The busiest month of the year for us.  We went on a couples' trip to Charleston with the Lewis' and Buteaus.  We had a tearful last goodbye with our friends in Shreveport.  Sweet Evie girl turned one.  We made the huge move to Colorado.

JULY

Spent this month trying to settle in to our new home.  We spent the 4th weekend in Vail.

AUGUST

The month of guests.  Aunt B and Granna came for a few days, we got to spend the day with Lez and Joel, and my mom came for a week.

SEPTEMBER

Mason turned four, started his new preschool, and started another season of soccer.

OCTOBER

We celebrated our seven year anniversary at the Broadmoor.  We had a great weekend with the Lewis' and Raines', had our first snow, and had the cutest Captain America and pig for Halloween.

NOVEMBER

We got to spend the week with my family in Ruidoso for Thanksgiving.

DECEMBER

Had our first Colorado Christmas.

What a crazy, busy, unexpected year we had.  I never would have thought this time last year that we would be living in Colorado right now.  It has been a hard year, but also an exciting one .  I am most thankful for our health and that we are together as a family.  I can't wait to see what 2013 has in store for us.  I hope we find a home that makes us happy and that our family and friends continue to come and see us. I look forward to more adventures and just cherishing time with my little family.

Winter Park Days 3 & 4

Friday was probably the coldest day we were there.  The wind chill got down to -17!  This was the ski day.  I was so excited to sign Mason up for Ski School and so was he.  Granna stayed home with Evie since it was so cold and nothing for her to do at the mountain, so I went to meet up with Matthew while we watched Mason for a little bit.  Sarah and Caroline decided to ski a half day as well.

Mason was so excited about skiing until the minute Matthew dropped him off and he lost it.  Luckily, Matthew just left him and ten minutes later walked back and Mason was fine.  We signed him up for a half day which was from 11:45-2:45.  He did so well and loved every minute of it.  I think we have us a little ski bum.  :)  We made it back to the condo for dinner and then a soak in the hot tub.

He had to go potty and we were not about to take him inside, so we settle for going off the balcony.  ha!

Saturday was our last full day.  We woke up and went to Colorado Adventure Park for tubing.  It was so much fun and we were so glad the sun came out this day and it warmed up to a whopping 21 degrees!  :)  We went to the Library for lunch and beer and then went for a sleigh ride.  Sleigh rides in Winter Park are dear to me because this is how Matthew proposed almost 8 years ago.  Who would have thought then that we would have two kids and be living here now?!

The sleigh ride was fun, but so cold!  The sun was setting and since we were just sitting, I think we all about froze.  We stopped half way at a campfire for hot chocolate and roasting marshmallows.  We then headed to Hernando's, a popular pizza place (also the place we went after getting engaged) and waited an hour and a half for a table.  It was worth the wait and a fun way to spend our last night there.  Sunday morning we loaded up and headed home.

I think we just wore her out the whole week.  I can't believe she was just resting on the snow like this!

We decided the mountain air and all the activities are exhausting because I'm pretty sure everyone of us could have gone to bed by 9 each night.  We had such a great time together and definitely a Christmas we will all remember!
