Charleston Day 2

Thursday morning we left pretty early to drive to the Magnolia Plantation.  We ate breakfast at the Peacock Cafe, toured the house, took a tram tour of the slave cabins, and then a boat tour of the land.  It was neat to see and hear all about the history of the place.

That afternoon was probably my favorite part of the trip.  We took a walking Culinary Tour and went to four different restaurants and sampled their southern foods.  Each place had either a three or four course meal, so we stuffed ourselves!  Some favorites were the she crab soup, shrimp and grits, penne vodka, and a grilled cesear salad.  Our tour guide knew a lot of history so we also got a history lesson while walking from each restaurant.

We changed and met up for more drinks and food that night.  We found a great little spot at a rooftop bar called Vendue.

Ready to EAT! This is the first stop (and our favorite) Southend
The last dessert stop was at CeCe's.  It was like Frozen Frog where you put toppings on frozen yogurt.  We were a little disappointed since we have like 5 of these in Shreveport, but there were some people on our tour who had never been to anything like this.  Maybe it's a southern thing?!
We lucked out with our hotel.  Neil found it on Priceline and it was so nice.  It happens to be the oldest hotel in Charleston.  It had a cute courtyard, nice pool,  and was in a great location.

Our feet were tired from walking all day so we took a bike to our next stop.

Loved these couches at Vendue
