Ronald McDonald House

Last night, some women from my MOPS group got together to serve dinner to the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.  We went with a pajama theme, and prepared and served breakfast for dinner.  We also made little gifts for the children that consisted of pillowcases, crayons, and activity books.
This was one of my favorite MOPS activities yet.  I got to hold a six-week-old baby boy who had open heart surgery at just 8 days old.  I enjoyed talking to his mother and hearing of the scary day she found out he was sick.  She has two other children at home in Wyoming and hasn't seen them in five weeks.  We also talked to another young boy who excitedly came up to us and said, "My birthday was the other day. (he turned 8)  I got the BEST present ever."  I asked what that was, expecting it to be some sort of toy, and he said, "a new heart!  That is even better than an iPad.  An iPad can't save my life, but my new heart did!"  Wow, talk about sending chills down my spine.
I was so grateful to be apart of last night.  It definitely makes me feel even more blessed to have two healthy children!  I can't wait to go again next year.

We decorated the pillowcases and bundled it all together so they could have something of their own until they get back home.
