Mason's First Day of Kindergarten

I can't believe this day has come and gone.  Wasn't he just a baby last month?!  He has been so excited and didn't seem nervous at all.  He did tell me that he might be a little shy at first, which I said was absolutely okay!
The Friday before we had Meet the Teacher.  His teacher, Ms. Koop, seems so sweet.  Mason has a crush on her and tells us how pretty she is!  He walked right into his room and began doing a puzzle and looking all around.  He left really excited.  Then on Monday, he had his assessment.  He was so happy when it was over and said he knew everything they asked him.  He said he was ready to go all day long.
He picked out his backpack and lunchbox and was ready for the big day.  The night before we had the best little conversation.  We read The Night before Kindergarten and he asked me all sorts of things like, will he take a nap, what will he learn first, etc.  Then he said something I will remember forever- he told me that he was excited to make new friends, and that if he saw someone sitting or playing by themselves that he would go over to them and be their friend.  Proud mom moment right there!  I hope no matter what, he is always a good friend and kind to others.  Then he said, "please don't tell Ms. Koop I said this, but I think when she sees me tomorrow she will think I look really handsome"  Melt my heart!
We prayed before bed, and I prayed for him to have the best school year and he added, "please God let me do really good on the monkey bars!"  :)
I cried a lot the day before school, so I think I had most of my tears out by the morning of.  He woke up early and got dressed.  I told him I would make him pancakes and bacon, but he just wanted toast. We took a few pictures and then headed to school.  I got a sitter for the girls because I was going to meet another mom for breakfast.
The day seemed to take forever, but finally it was time to go pick him up.  I'm pretty sure Evie missed him the most, she kept asking when we could go get him.  As soon as he got in the car, he said "that was SO MUCH FUN!"  He said Kindergarten was awesome and he can't wait to go back.  He had the biggest smile on his face.  He then excitedly told me about how he didn't eat the lunch I packed him.  Somehow he ended up in the lunch line and got his own pizza and oranges.  He said when he got to the end of the line that he paid for his food with no grown ups.  This was such a big deal to him!  Looks like school lunch might not be so bad after all.

they gave tons of hugs and kisses before we left

So fun that even though he and Ava aren't in the same class they still see each other throughout the day

getting lined up outside to go in

I might of teared up a little here watching them walk in the building

I made him cupcakes to celebrate and he of course thought the first day of kindergarten deserved a candle!
snuggles on the couch
They laid like this for such a long time.  He was so tired and she couldn't get enough of him.
