Puerto Vallarta Part 1

Last year when we were in the dead of winter we decided that we wanted to take a beach vacation this summer.  We found the place in February, but couldn't book anything until we knew our baby's name and birthday.  (Funny how I can't even imagine planning a trip out of the country while pregnant with Mason or Evie.  The third time you just figure things out!)
We had the best week ever.  I still smile just thinking about how much fun we had together.  The kids were so great and it was so nice to be unplugged from the world for seven straight days.  The only downside was on Wednesday when Evie starting vomiting and having diarrhea.  I was so scared that the rest of our trip was going to be ruined because we were all going to catch it.  Luckily, no one else got it, and after having to have the bed sheets changed three times and she got some rest, she was back to herself on Thursday.
We left bright and early on Sunday morning and were at our resort by 1pm.  We were thankful to have my parents iPad so that each kid could have their own during the flight.  They were perfectly content and sweet Charlotte slept most of the time.

We switched seats with Charlotte on the way there and Matthew fell asleep while she was wide awake.  She slept in my lap the entire flight home though.

No car seat rules in Mexico means this was how we rode to the resort.  It was hot and humid so baby girl needed some air!

I was a bit scared of our resort when we drove up, but once we were inside I knew it would be great for us.  We had a family room, which was a king bed plus a little alcove with bunk beds.  We had the option of two pools and the water park, which was the best set up for the kids.
Our days were exactly like this for the week:
  • Wake up and put on swimsuits
  • Breakfast
  • Beach for a few hours while Charlotte napped in her stroller
  • Pool and water park
  • Lunch around 1:00
  • Naps
  • Back to pools and water park
  • Dinner
  • Beach
  • Bed
Three nights we dressed up and had dinner in the restaurants, but the other nights we just ate at the buffet in our swimsuits.  The food was better than I expected and there were plenty of options even for my picky kids.

Waiting in the lobby before getting our room.  One of the highlights for the kids was getting frozen drinks as often as they wanted.

Feet in the ocean for the first time (for Evie and Charlotte)

He was pretty excited!
